St Paul's Roman Catholic Primary School

Year 4

Welcome to Year 4!

Miss Carnaby is the class teacher of 29 children in Year 4. Our Teaching Assistants are Mrs Murray and Mrs Taylor who help support our learning as well as creating a bright and colourful classroom environment.

The ethos of Class 4 is to work hard but always with a smile on our faces!

We are very lucky that in Year 4 we learn about a variety of exciting topics, ranging from World War II, Mountains & Volcanoes, Electricity and The Romans.

Every Monday we get our spellings, which are tested on a Friday.  On a Friday we receive a piece of homework to be completed for the following Wednesday. The children also choose a reading book from the class or school library as we encourage reading for pleasure!

We like to work hard in Y4 and our outstanding behaviour, effort and work is recognised in various ways.  We are proud to earn points for our team houses for behaviour linked to our Code of Conduct, e.g. showing good manners and being helpful and respectful around school.  Dojo points are individually awarded for class based activities, e.g. excellent participation and resilience during tasks.

A ‘Star of the Week’ certificate is also presented during Whole School Assembly to a member of Class 4 who has excelled or stood out from the rest of the class whether that be for effort, behaviour or attitude.

We try to promote independent learning, by completing homework, practising spellings and times tables, reading and changing our individual and library books and generally organising ourselves more independently in preparation for Years’ 5 & 6.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about Class 4 and don’t forget to keep checking our page for photos and videos of our exciting adventures!
