St Paul's Roman Catholic Primary School

Who are the Friends of St Paul’s?

Every parent/carer is automatically a member of the Friends of St Paul’s as we all share the same key interest of having our children’s education and welfare at heart.   Helping the children at home with homework and the academic side of things is an obvious way we show our support but there are also opportunities to help a bit more by supporting the school in raising funds to improve the environment in which our children learn and enjoy their school life.

St Paul’s has always been very fortunate that our children’s parents and families show an extraordinary amount of support for the activities and events that are held and as we continue to grow we hope this support will continue.

Why do we need to raise funds?

As a catholic voluntary-aided school, the school must contribute 10% of certain building, renovation or improvement costs undertaken by the school.   This is the case whether that work is essential or desirable so includes upgrades to toilets, classrooms and nursery as well as playground improvements and equipment.   Also as school budgets get tighter, the financial contribution you make becomes even more important.

If the school fails to raise this funding then funding from alternative sources could be withheld thus affecting further school developments.

What do we do?

The answer is …. lots!!  The events given over the page show some of the activities to be undertaken during the year but we have also held quizzes, games evenings, raffles at the Christmas performances, Magic Nights, Art Gallery evenings as well as the Lucky Number scheme and very successful Easter Fayre.   Funds raised are ploughed directly back into the school and every one of our children will benefit.

How can you help?

There are so many ways to get involved.  We know that not everyone can come along to the regular meetings and that is absolutely fine.   Maybe you’ve visited some fundraising events elsewhere and noticed something that seemed to be really popular – let us know, we are always looking for new ideas.   Perhaps you could give an hour of your time to help out at raffle sales, serve drinks to the children at the disco or help setting up or at the Easter Fayre as a one-off or on a regular basis – any help is always greatly appreciated

If you work for an organisation that may be able to provide raffle prizes/vouchers or provide charitable ‘match’ funding then again, please let us know.

How to get in touch?

Just leave your name and number with Mrs Millington or Mrs Sharkey at the School Reception and we will make sure someone gets in touch with you.  We also have a number of parents who come along regularly to meetings or are often in the playground and would be more than happy to talk to you or answer any queries about the work of the Friends of St Paul’s.

Most importantly, we really want the children to have lots of fun while at St Paul’s and our activities help this to happen and we would love you to get involved in any way you can.  We are a friendly bunch and welcome any help you can give.

Dates of meetings are circulated throughout the term please feel free to come along. Your children can come along too!
Minutes of all the meetings are on display in the school porch.
