About Year 5
Miss Wilberforce is the Class Teacher of 30 children in Year 5, our Teaching Assistant Miss Wood helps support our learning. In Class 5 we are enthusiastic, helpful and hardworking learners who support each other to demonstrate determination, perseverance and resilience to become the best we can be! We have a safe and nurturing classroom environment, where every child has their thoughts and opinions valued. As a result, our classroom is a pleasant place to learn where we develop good relationships and grow together.
As we move further up the school it is important that we are excellent role models for younger children and become more independent learners. We therefore take on extra responsibilities such as being School Librarians, effective School and Sports Council members and Minnie Vinnies.
We learn about various exciting and engaging topics in Year 5 such as Australia, Captain James Cook, The Ancient Greeks and The Anglo-Saxons & Vikings. Topics integrated across subjects allow us to fully explore our interests while making our learning experience immersive and fun! We are passionate about reading, our class reads often inspire our own writing and vocabulary choice. Class 5 enjoy reading for pleasure and we are always eager to share book recommendations.
Our outstanding behaviour, work and effort is recognised in various ways. We are proud to earn points for our school teams and work hard to be awarded dojo points for class-based activities. A ‘Star of the Week’ certificate is also presented during Whole School Assembly to celebrate the fantastic work, efforts and attitudes we have in Class 5.
We have a very busy timetable. Please view our current Newsletter for further Curriculum information.
